European languages derive from the following indo-european language groups: the Romance languages, the Germanic languages, the Slavic languages. The Romance languages derive from Latin. Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian belong to this group. They are spoken in Southwestern Europe and in Romania. People, who live in Central Europe, Scandinavia, the British Isles, speak a language connected to the Germanic language family.
